Each year Seacoast Newcomers support a local charity.  The criteria of selection includes organizations which support children, families, women, individuals in need of assistance, etc. and organizations which are dependent on localized support rather than national funding.  Throughout the year the club organizes various fundraising events for members' participation as well as designating a portion of the annual membership dues to raise the funds and gifts given to the selected organization.

Our support for our 2011-2012 year will be Fair Tide. Providing safe, dignified, affordable housing and support services to low income and homeless families and individuals is the mission of Fair Tide. Participants accepted into the program reside in downtown Kittery, Maine at the Center for Sustainable Living. There are five furnished apartments provided for up to two years. Programs include Life Coaching, Life Enrichment Workshops, Resident Association Meetings and Community Volunteering.

Fair Tide was founded in 1998 by local community members who were concerned for neighbors, family and friends who were homeless or living in temporary substandard housing. Funds were raised to renovate a rundown apartment building and in  2002 Fair Tide accepted it's first group of participants. To support the Transitional Housing Program, the Fair Tide Thrift Store was opened in January 2003. The store is located at 15 State Road in Kittery and offers a wide range of clothing and household items at low cost. The Thrift Store is also a commuity service for recycling, job training and volunteerism.

Former organizations adopted by SNC have been Families First, Crosseroads House, A Safe Place, New Heights for Teens, New Generations, the Seacoast Interfaith Hospitality Network,Compass Care, Footprints Food Pantry and the Dover Children's Home and Zebra Crossings.

As an additional project one year we provided 7 local familes with a Thanksgiving Dinner. The baskets also included extra staple items and gift certificates for the Holiday season. Once again the Seacoast Newcomers provided support for those in need.
